Resources

One of the values that shapes us as a church is that we are a ‘people of the word and the spirit’. Several years ago we received a prophetic word which really resonated with us : that we would be a “resource church”.

We have seen many outworkings of this. Dave, one of our pastors regularly preaches at other local churches in North and Mid-Devon through his affiliation with Counties. We also want to be a church family that resources and serves our local area in many ways; more details are on the ‘In the Community’ section of the website.

The Bethel Chapel

In September 2024, the church took over ownership of the Bethel Chapel and Manse in Torrington Street, East-The-Water; the building was donated to the church free-of-charge!

Whilst the building is in a significant state of disrepair, we are committed to seeing it used for God’s glory which is why it was originally opened back in 1877.

The refurbishment of the Bethel Chapel and Manse in Torrington Street is underway with ‘Phase 1 : make the building waterproof’ now completed. This work included the replacement of damaged roof timbers, replacement of roofing slates, replacement skylights, removal of asbestos materials and replacement of damaged guttering.

Phase 2 is now underway which includes the repair of internal walls, replacement of water-damaged internals and making the building fully compliant with fire regulations.

By the grace, kindness and provision of God, this building will be restored in order to provide a resource hub from which to serve the local community. We have a big God and a big vision for how He will use this building in the centre of the community in years to come. If you would like to donate to the work of restoration, you can do so on our Giving page here. We are also looking to partner with external agencies to bring the building back to life again!
